  • Notes: Summary An Assistant Sushi Chef supports the Head Sushi Chef in preparing sushi, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes; role involves food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and assisting in kitchen operations to ensure high-quality service; Responsibilities Assist in preparing sushi rolls, sashimi, and other menu items Slice fish, vegetables, and other ingredients accurately Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and workstations Ensure proper storage of raw materials and ingredients Follow food safety and hygiene standards Assist in plating and presentation of dishes Support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations Keep inventory of ingredients and notify shortages Required Qualifications Previous experience in a sushi kitchen (preferred) Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi preparation techniques Ability to handle knives and kitchen tools safely Food handling and hygiene certification is an advantage Team player and able to follow instructions Skills & Abilities ✔ Attention to detail and precision ✔ Good time management ✔ Physical stamina for long kitchen shifts ✔ Ability to work in a fast-paced environment ✔ Communication and teamwork skills Work Conditions Full-time position Kitchen environment (hot and fast-paced) Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays Requires standing for long hours
